Lake Macquarie Outdoor Recreation Centre Heritage Interpretation Plan

ABORIGINAL CULTURAL HERITAGE

Client: Crusaders Union of Australia

The Project

Extent Heritage was commissioned to prepare a heritage interpretation plan for the Lake Macquarie Outdoor Recreation centre in Balcolyn, New South Wales. The purpose of the study is to plan heritage interpretation devices that respond to the Aboriginal cultural heritage values of the place.

Our Role

Extent Heritage is leading the research, consultation, design and content preparation of the interpretation devices. Specifically, it is assisting with integrating the Aboriginal cultural heritage values of the place.

Value Unlocked

Through this project, we have been able to create education resources for school groups to learn about the history and significance of the Aboriginal people in this area of Australia. We have also enhanced the setting of an extant midden on site, through interpretation, for the purposes of public education.
