City of Moreland Stage 2 Heritage Assessment

A STUDY OF NEW LOCAL HERITAGE PLACES

Client: City of Moreland

The Project

Extent Heritage is currently preparing a detailed Stage 2 assessment for Moreland City Council. The review includes a list of 620 places that were nominated by the public in 2016 and identified in a Stage 1 preliminary heritage assessment in 2019 as having the potential to be locally significant to Moreland. As part of the project, Extent Heritage is also updating the 2010 Thematic History via a review and gap-analysis process.

Our Role

Extent Heritage is leading an intensive fieldwork and assessment program for the nominations, utilising the findings of surveys, desktop research, community input and our in-house expertise to collate a series of citations for the potential heritage places of Moreland. This process will determine whether the nominations meet the threshold for listing on a local planing scheme. Utilising these findings and new historical and demographic research, Extent Heritage will also update the thematic history to bring it up to date in 2020.

Value Unlocked

The project will allow for previously unrecognised places, including places with modern, late twentieth-century heritage, to be acknowledged as places of significance on the heritage overlay of the City of Moreland.
