About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and self-motivated Senior Heritage Advisor to join Extent Heritage's Aboriginal Archaeology Team in our Melbourne office on a full-time, fixed-term basis. Opportunities for permanent positions will be open for discussion throughout the initial 12-month contract.
The Senior Heritage Advisor (Aboriginal Archaeology) is responsible for carrying out commercial consultancy projects, requiring skills in project management as well as key technical experience.
Essential skills and experience
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their ability to meet the following criteria:
• An archaeology degree with Honours or equivalent, with a focus on Australian archaeology
• Demonstrated consulting experience (ideally 7 years or more)
• Demonstrated project management experience, including managing project finances, supervising project teams, working to tight deadlines within budget constraints,
engaging and managing subcontractors and providing advice to clients and stakeholders
• Experience in achieving targets in revenue, profit, and proposals success rate including tenders
• Demonstrated knowledge of complex Aboriginal archaeological sites and cultural heritage management in Australia
• Demonstrated extensive experience in the execution of archaeological surveys and excavations, site identification, recording, assessment, and Aboriginal community
consultation
• Demonstrated extensive experience in site inspections, recording, research, and impact assessment
• Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to prepare complex advice and reporting to a high professional standard
• Driver’s license, Construction Industry Safety Induction (White Card)
• Being (or being eligible to be) listed as a Heritage Advisor under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.)
Desirable skills and experience
• Senior First Aid Certificate (for fieldwork positions) / Remote First Aid Certificate
• Certified Four Wheel Drive training
• Experience working in a commercial environment
• Safely Work in the Rail Corridor (or equivalent) training
