The Australia ICOMOS President's Award 2023

We are thrilled to announce that Vivian Lu, Heritage Advisor, has been awarded a high Highly Commended in the Australia ICOMOS President’s Award 2023. The Australia ICOMOS President's Award recognises the important contribution made by the active engagement of younger and/or emerging career heritage practitioners.

Vivian is an emerging heritage professional, built heritage practitioner and trained historian with a strong commitment to inclusive approaches to heritage management. As a multidisciplinary practitioner, she has a keen interest in shared values, intangible heritage, and the ways materials-based conservation can be augmented with participatory approaches that centre and empower communities. Vivian has demonstrated commitment to the principles of the Burra Charter through both her professional work at Extent Heritage as well as her extra-curricular research and activities. Key projects outlined in her nomination submission included the preparation of a detailed history for the Conservation Management Plan for the Willie Mar Fruit and Vegetable Market Garden, an oral history digitisation and community archiving project at Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, and her contributions to the Economic and Social Value of Heritage Research Report for the The Heritage Council of Victoria.

Congratulations Vivian!
