Dr MacLaren North receives Certified Environmental Practitioners Scheme Service Award

Congratulations Dr MacLaren North… what an outstanding acknowledgement to receive the CEnvP Scheme Service Award!

Heritage is a broad discipline, with people from all different types of professions contributing to making it work – planners, architects, archaeologists, conservators, historians and more. While each of those fields has a professional membership body, there has been no overarching certification for “heritage practitioners” – until now. Enter the Certified Environmental Practitioner (Heritage) scheme, which got up and running in 2021. This scheme is a profession-neutral certification scheme that provides a third-party process for recognising the skills and ethical commitment of heritage practitioners from all aspects of the heritage field. The CEnvP scheme itself is audited against the ISO17024 Standard for Personnel Certification Bodies and has a robust, transparent process for assessing candidates for certification, as well as ongoing requirements to maintain certification. Heritage practitioners have talked about the need for professional certification for more than 20 years – the time to become certified is now!

“I am honoured to have received the inaugural CEnvP Scheme Service Award for my work in the implementation of the Heritage specialist certification, and I strongly encourage my colleagues in the heritage field with more than 10 years experience to apply. For those with less than 10 years experience, you can still apply for the general Certified Environmental Practitioner certification.” Says Mac.
