DR ALEX PARMINGTON JOINS EXTENT HERITAGE

Extent Heritage are proud to welcome Dr Alex Parmington as the new manager of our Melbourne office.

Alex brings a wealth of experience, particularly in Aboriginal cultural heritage management and working with and for Traditional Owners – a key focus for Extent. Having started his career fifteen years ago in heritage consulting, Alex has since worked with various Registered Aboriginal Parties for over a decade, including two years as CEO of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation. Most recently, he has been the Heritage Manager for Taungurung Land and Waters Council.

“I’m passionate about supporting Traditional Owners,” says Alex. “Since the Aboriginal Heritage Act was enacted in 2006 there’s been an increasing appreciation amongst the broader public for protecting and preserving Indigenous cultural heritage values.”

Alex will be managing our Melbourne office, but also working closely with Extent’s cultural heritage management team nationally.

“I’ve long known that the quality of the work coming from Extent is great—in my time evaluating Cultural Heritage Management Plans I’ve seen a range of quality, but Extent have been consistently outstanding, and I was always impressed.”

Extent Heritage CEO Ian Travers says: “It is very exciting to have an archaeologist and heritage manager of Alex’s experience and capability take on leadership of our rapidly growing Victorian office.

“Alex is rightly regarded as one of the foremost figures in Aboriginal heritage management in Victoria. We look forward to taking Alex’s lead to further strengthen the abilities of our multidisciplinary firm and our relationships with Victoria’s Traditional Owners.”
