Experience
Jessica Heidrich has a keen passion for heritage interpretation, in particular the development of initiatives that facilitate sustainable community engagement with sites and landscapes. As part of such projects, Jessica has been responsible for delivering new heritage interpretation, conducting community consultations, and executing multiphase projects with specific budgets, time frames and outcomes. Experiences such as these have allowed her to view heritage projects with a rational understanding of the opportunities and constraints involved in achieving innovative and sympathetic heritage outcomes.

Jessica specialised in archaeology and museum studies at the University of Queensland, where she completed a research thesis on museological approaches to memory and place as expressed by museums located on former sites of atrocities. As part of her studies, Jessica developed valuable skills in research design and assessing the significance of both archaeological and built heritage places.

Over the last two years, Jessica has gained experience in many facets of heritage, including interpretation design and development, heritage impact and condition assessment, conservation management planning, archival recording, historical research, collection management, and digitisation. She has been involved in preparing conservation management plans and photographic archival records for local and state heritage listed structures in both Queensland and New South Wales.

Additionally, Jessica has over three years’ experience in the museum sector and is skilled in exhibition design, public programming, collections management, and artefact handling. She has been involved in several projects within Queensland, including historical interpretation design and development for Miles Historical Village Museum and Anzac Park, and historical research for The Legacy of 50 Years Collecting at Milingimbi Mission (an Australian Research Council–funded Linkage project).
