Chief Executive Officer
“We’re experts in managing the tangible and intangible material of heritage, be it buildings or sites, stories or practices. But remember—we work with people to study people on behalf of people.
It’s really all about people.”
Ian is the CEO of Extent Heritage and has extensive heritage consultancy experience in Victoria and globally. He has developed and led many large, ground-breaking cultural heritage and interpretation studies involving diverse clients, multidisciplinary teams and numerous community stakeholders, and he has a very broad understanding of current approaches through his role as a recent past President of Australia ICOMOS.
Ian has a long involvement with the City of Melbourne’s Aboriginal heritage programs, including managing the City of Melbourne Indigenous Heritage Study and preparing the City’s Indigenous Heritage Action Plan. Ian has particular knowledge and expertise in relation to the cultural heritage of water and related landscapes and has recently been appointed President of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Water and Heritage. He is very familiar with the Australia Alps National Parks and has represented Parks Victoria in the Federal Court in relation to the management of feral horses in the region.
