Experience
Anita is an archaeologist, academic, and internationally recognised expert on World Heritage matters. She is currently the cultural expert member in Australia’s delegation to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (2017–2021), a position she also held previously from 2007 to 2011. Anita has advised the Australian Government on World Heritage nominations for cultural sites and on heritage conservation programs in the Pacific Islands.

In 2013, she co-authored an assessment of the aesthetic values of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area and in 2014 was the lead author of an international comparative analysis for the Budj Bim cultural landscape. Anita also provided expert advice to the Victorian Government and Gunditjmara traditional owners on the development and content of the Budj Bim cultural landscape World Heritage nomination (completed in January 2018).

From 2010 to 2016, Anita was a member of the Heritage Council of Victoria. Anita is a current member of the Council’s Archaeology Advisory Committee. She is a member of Australia ICOMOS and the Executive of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Archaeological Heritage Management.
